About Jay Zeiger

James M. Zeiger, MAI was the chief appraiser for Bank of America.  In August 2007, Mr. Zeiger passed away at the age of 44 of malignant melanoma.  In his daily work as a senior vice president at the bank, Mr. Zeiger led risk management efforts and coordinated real estate management worldwide. Born in San Diego, he received a bachelor’s degree in 1984 and a master’s degree in business administration in 1986, both from the University of Florida. An avid cyclist, Mr. Zeiger, who was known to his friends and family as Jay, was active in fund-raising for the Pan-Mass Challenge. He continued his volunteer work during his five-year illness.

Jay Zeiger Service Day

In 2008, the Board of Directors voted to create a Jay (James) Zeiger Service Day. Jay was an active MAI member of the Massachusetts Chapter. In addition to serving on the Chapter’s Board of Directors for nine years, Jay served on various chapter and national Appraisal Institute committees. He was always an advocate for our organization. Jay lost his battle to cancer in August 2007 and the Chapter decided to  honor him with a Day of Service in his memory.

Over the years, this event has been spearheaded by the Chapter’s Emerging Leaders Group with Greg Curtis, MAI leading the effort.
